In the 15th century, the first Christmas trees were decorated

with fruit and nuts. Apples, among other things, were hung

from the tree as a symbol of the forbidden fruit of the

tree of knowledge. There is a reason that Adam and Eve Day is celebrated on 24 December. The apple from the Garden of Eden symbolises the fall of man as well as the promise of salvation.

In 1847, glassblowers from Thuringia produced the first glass

baubles and, so they say, decorated their Christmas trees with apples and pears made of glass instead of real fruit

- which were rare and expensive at the time.

Wishing you a holiday season

with a touch of paradise
